"Electric wafer butterfly valve"means a soft seated butterfly valve with an electric actuator. It is used for on-off control of water and other media compatible with the materials of construction.They rotate 90 degrees (quarter-turn) from fully open to fully closed. While they typically operate more slowly than valves with a pneumatic actuator, it is often the case that electricity is available and compressed air is not. wafer style valve sandwich mounts between customer supplied standard ANSI/ASME Class 125/ 150 pipe flanges. Standard unit is power-to-open and power to close, stays in last known position with loss of power. On receipt of a continuous voltage signal, the motor runs and via an all metal self-locking gear drive rotates the disc one quarter turn. The motor is automatically stopped by internal cams striking limit switches at both open and closed positions. On receipt of a reversing continuous signal, the motor turns in the opposite direction reversing the valve position.
The valve is direct mounted to the actuator using the international standard ISO5211 mounting pad. Rugged unique integral motor/housing design provides higher torque in a very small package. Special wave line seat and disc shape, reduces the required torque and extends the life of the valve. Precision machined metal disc with two-piece stem (shaft) construction, enhances the flow capacity of the valve and reduces turbulence. The stem utilizes PTFE/graphite bearings with V-ring seals preventing leakage.
